The Helmeted Honeyeater or Yellow Tufted Honeyeater is Victoria's state bird emblem.  They are critically endangered.  Due to their native habitat decreasing, they can only be found in small pockets of Victoria.  Friends of the Helmeted Honeyeater group have been restoring native sedge ridge swamp gum habitat in the Yellingbo Nature Conservation Reserve.  Their population has increased due to this work however there is a long way to go to get them off the critical list.
